For those recently affected by the layoffs, thought I would share a personal experience that will hopefully help. I worked for another multi-billion dollar place in OKC "loud city ahem" that while thriving layed off my entire group. I was in a niche IT role for OKC and at the time the market for jobs other than 3 month contracts were non existant. I have a few takeaways:
-
I took a vacation to the Caribbean right away to decompress, reflect and trust God before the job hunt ramped up.
-
It was very hard to feel that pang of "rejection" much like a relationship breakup.
-
I used 3 recruiting agencies that were an utter waste of time. I cranked out dozens of resumes before expanding to TX/KS/MO.
-
When I landed a job 5 months later as time was running out on my savings and mortgage, I thanked God for the new position that got me by until I could find the best fit for a long term position.
A year later I landed a job completely remote, making 40% more than the layoff job. God is faithful of we are.
Hang in there hope this helps someone.
