I'd don't fully agree with having MBA or MSM in each BU, but there is a need in the chain of command for them. Taking someone with no O&G experience and placing them in a position like that is not a good mix, it causes conflict. Not every well can be based in finances. Each well is a different animal. The best SUP I had was a gent with 35+ years experience in the industry. He managed ALL the aspects very well from personnel to budget. It SHOULD be a team effort, but seems Devon ran from that successful strategy a few years back. I am by no means disgruntled, but I saw a massive change at Devon over my years working for them.

It's sad the potential that is out here that has been SO poorly managed and operated. Because someone has and engineering degree DOES NOT make them a management professional. Devon would have been much better served had they invested in people with MBA's and MSM degrees to manage this place rather than a bunch of engineers. Or they should have required said engineers to get MBA's.

85% of that BU could have been laid off or severanced and replaced with "good" Devon employees from slower or selling BU's.
