Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Not aware of the details but significant changes to benefit plan will be announced Monday. Any guesses as to what's in scope and what's not?

I'm very sorry to hear that. That's a huge number of people affected. Any news about pension benefit changes anywhere?

Canada has decreased flex days this year and next. We used to get 17 (these were earned flex days, we worked a longer day to get it), 2016 has 15 days, 2017 has 12.

This won't affect me though! I am likely being laid off come June. IT is being decimated. Of 300 FT staff, only 60 permanent positions remain.

Sorry to announce that the pension plan will be significantly changed. In addition, company match will be reduced. Hold on tight ladies - it'll be nasty one for the the foreseeable future....welcome to 2016!
