I posted a few days ago - we got an email asking all of our support engineers to be able to extend shifts.
You know what this mean right? I am new to VMware but my previous employer did the same thing - they extended shifts, and cut people. So the people that was lucky to stay on the support side had to pick up the slack and cover for the folks that were cut.
They basically doubled our work after just one round of layoffs - I hope this will not be case with us but this whole thing does not sound good.
Also, WTF - why are we finding about cuts from the financial press - it's all over the web now and why am I reading about this and that on layoffs on this site.
WHere is corporate communication, where is the change management team now? Who's planning this thing and are they really in charge of things?
If they decide to go with 900 or 1000 people, that's massive for any company - why not manage this like something that's important...
