Did they give you anything in written stated that they will give you a full time job if there is a full time employee leaves? We went through this before with a different companies. Transition mean they are asking you to train their engineers the jobs you are working on that is why they give you the bonus to stay and train. At the end of the transition term, they might keep you but most likely not. Why? the bottom line is MONEY. Isn't true that they have been building a bluetooth test team and development team in Bangalore the last year or two?
i have been given 17 month transition and I am told that if a full time employee leaves I will be given that positon!
so transition is not layoff according to me.
Just because most folks have been given transition doesn't mean it's not a layoff. Most will be out of a job at some point soon. Transition employment has an end date.
Bullshit. There has been no layoffs yet in San Diego.
I know that SG&A lines of businesses have been given notices. I was assuming that most of engineering would be left intact for future selling of the business.
So I am resuming that the termination and transitioning letters have been given? Or is it more forward thinking based on Hock's style and previous track record?
It's all about profit margin. Broadcom bluetooth division profit margin has been low for years.
They will trim all the fat (layoff most) and sell it off if there is a buyer.
By decimated, do you mean a 10% cut like the Romans did when vanquishing enemies, or more figuratively? Sorry to hear that. I thought BT would be touched because it's a profitable business. You guys had that bad ass combo chip business, right?
