This is not new for Devon. Devon laid off a bunch of people in the summer of 2010. Don't forget the Houston office closure, the Calgary layoffs and those who went to CRNL. There have always been employees mysteriously disappearing from Devon.
It's them or you and they ain't leaving if the decision is theirs.

I was laid off from another energy company and unfortunately that's what we are...just numbers.
It's a hard pill to swallow, but whatever happens, you will survive and hopefully land in a much better place.
you've never been anything but a number, macabroni and cheese.
The company has always been ice cold. The warmth was an illusion that the company can no longer afford.

I know we are just numbers and it is just business. After being loyal to a company for so many years you would like to think of it as more than just a number interaction. I know the ones holding the axe are humans, however they don't see us as such. All good things come to an end. A lot of things are not as they are perceived.
@hhe rhat is not what the leadership has been telling us all along
If you think a company cares about you then that is your first mistake. It's all about money. You ARE just a number. They aren't your friend. It's a business not a friend!
