Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Waiting to get laid-off, just want to be done with this nightmare. I cannot live like this.

I know there is life outside this industry but part of me wants to get laid so I can go on with my life. We all know that this is not the last layoff and things are going to get worse. Maybe there are whole departments that are let go. Have been following our neighbor Conoco and there is carnage going on out there. So to believe that somehow we all will be untouched is plain stupid. God bless you all and Hope this turns around sooner

Yes, and that clearly shows that your BP manager terminated you, even though you were a proven performer.

Just as you said, kiss a$s. Which is an example of the horrible disease that has permeated throughout the BP heavy process system.

It's a very politically correct system, veiled under corporate processes.

And it's bad. Very bad. BP deserves bankruptcy, or an acquisition of assets by a properly managed suitor.

BP culture is sick. Very sick.

I don't think it's personal but you have to be kiss a$$ to your manager and n+2. I was challenger, in H1b visa, just changed the group with exceeding expecting on previous role. had two spot on bonuses and a mid year raise. I don't think you get more than that as a challener. and 3 months in this new role, then I was told they don't want me. the only reason was being new to the group that I can think of. its like the aluminium pins trying to stick to the magnet. pins in the outer sides of the magnet always fall first. managers being magnet at the center and never to be touched, no matter how incompetent they are.so to save your job at Bp make sure to be your managers kiss a$$. I am happy they let me go then though, as you said I did not have to wait for another painful year to be laid off.

It may not be personal if you get fired, but it is likely you got cut because you are a white male over 40+.

You really should not worry so much about it. You are likely a very smart and talented person - that's why they hired you in the first place. Remember whatever happens is not personal and isn't even indicative of your abilities - at this time it is about the economics of this industry. Be confident in your skills and experience.
