There will sooo many oil companies going bankrupt in 2016, there will no reason for mergers. Once the companies start defaulting on their loans while their bond ratings drop below junk, the few companies left standing (Exxon-Mobil, Chevron-Texaco, etc) can cherry pick off the skeletons of companies like Marathon.
