Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

WFR

As a recent WFR'er (HP blue if you know what that is) from the summer purge with 27yrs in, very happy to be out and was just waiting it out anyway.

Earlier in 2015, unit managers eloquently stated their goal over the coming quarters was to layoff the expensive and old (50) resources and replace with cheap/young talent. Not rocket science.

Good luck with that as my old customers are noticeably upset and pulling up stakes and refreshing with competitor products. No talent left to justify the premium HP charges. Sad state of affairs, give HPE at the most 5 yrs and HP inc one before complete collapse.

The label HP blue came about during the CPQ merger and was the term coined for original HWP employees. Though I stil have the name tag with red on white. Similarily HP red was coined for the premerger CPQ folks.

What is HP Blue? I am 50++++ so am expecting WFR anytime now. I am actually hoping for it as things are so bad I can not do my job properly anymore.

Thanks for the update. The strange part is after 28 years with the company, and having a performance ranking of P+ I was sitting at the very bottom of Pay Band 1. You reiterated what management says but the truth ( I'm sure you know this) is that many senior folks are not "expensive" at all. I'm pointing this out because the company uses the "senior employees are too expensive" mantra too often when it's simply not true. Red Badge - Old HP Canada.
