Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Where are the lawsuits?

Really surprised that there is no news of lawsuits yet for the latest round of Shell layoffs. As one of the affected employees (or former employees) I know that the over 40 percentage of the affected employees was extremely high, definitely NOT in line with the age demographics of the workforce.

I did not worked with Accenture folks, IBM was not that bad in my honest opinion but Wipro, this is the worst company I ever worked with. Now, saying that "no laws being broken" is really bad joke.

Shell Ombudsman is pretty busy this year I hear. Just because there are no lawsuits in the news doesn't mean there are no settlements

All IBM,Accenture and Wipro Contractors are very huge Crap and hence all these under performers and including PMO staff of IBM,Wipro and Accenture must be fired immediately without even providing a hour notice and all these IBM,Accenture and Wipro Contractors must not be even allowed to enter Shell buildings. The loss at Shell is due to all these IBM,Accenture and Wipro Contractors and including PMO Staff. All these IBM,Accenture and Wipro Contractors were earning more money then Obama or any other VP/Director at any other OIL COMPANY IN THE WORLD.

Since when do layoffs have to be equally spread across demographics, age ranges or necessarily be based on performance?

Oil prices are down 75%. The industry is in one of the inevitable down cycles, cash flow is severely impacted and companies have to cut expenses to survive. The pressure to cut costs and jobs is even more extreme in the case of Shell because of the BG merger.

If you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time you are at risk of losing your job. Also - good luck at suing to prove a corporate discrimination conspiracy to target a particular category that you happen to fit into. With the current state of the industry and with the prospect for more layoffs to come, there is no reason for Shell or any other company to not vigorously defend any attempts by disgruntled former employees to sue for discrimination.

Most severance packages are contingent upon waiving your rights to sue so why put your severance at risk? Move on with your life!

Uh probably because no laws were broken. That typically needs to happen prior to a suit being filed.

All Accenture & IBM IT Contractors and Wipro PMO contractors at Shell Oil Houston are under performers and hence all these contractors must be laid off.Especially from down stream and up stream all contractors must be given Fuchsia PINK Slips

It's always the older employees and a good percentage of the higher-paid 40+ age group that gets laid off first. If more employees need to be cut, then the under-performers in the younger age group go next. Lastly, some supervisors and managers are asked to leave (yes, they are asked, not told). Management rules and workers are tools for this company.
