Assuming 200k for each person, this means 4250 people being laid off.

I am sure Michael Dell will look at how the EMC re-structuring was done and lay off's made. In APJ ,they have more than 7 people as Expats in Singapore contributing 00$$ to business but getting paid a minimum 1 M$. Last 7 months of hiring done purely out of friendship , the SEA head bought with no industry exp in Storage but friend to the big boss , Malaysia MD bought from SA , another big boss friend. SEA President goes 40 days holiday+Work during Year end , from 17th Dec-15 to 28th Jan-16 , another guy from india bought into replace our country men from Singapore ( not sure what MOM) is doing.

Really sad to see after 17 years one of the best tech companies in the world end in this way. My manager is already gone, bad signal. My last day will be the 31st of May.
I hope Joe Tucci and Michael Dell read these and hire better managers to run the Geo's
It feels sad to see many of our Colleagues move out from South East Asia countries due to cost and cost cutting by EMC , but equally sad to see that one of the regional Presidents was holidaying and working from ANZ for 40days in a row , leaving customers , partners and year end deals in a fix... not sure how the company decides on cost cutting..
Between Jan 01 and Jan 27 2654 employees have left EMC. This is based on an internal directory count. My guess there is a target of 5,000 staff globally between Q4 and end of Q1 2016 with about 4,000 staff gone to date. EMC has about $250M allocated to staff reduction costs. That works out at approximately $50K cost per employee. I'd be curious if anyone comes up with the same calculations.
I wonder if this includes the major slash at CS personnel in December was part of this.

The plan consists of a reduction in force which will be substantially completed by the end of the first quarter of 2016 and fully completed by the end of 2016. The total charge resulting from this plan is expected to be approximately $250 million ..."
