Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

I got an idea!!!

Let's start a company based on people first and integrity. Then we'll grow it with fantastic people that buy into this company and give their heart and soul because of John and Larry's personal connection and charisma. Then we'll run into the ground by:

  1. Creating an ivory tower for executives that don't interact in a meaningful way with the workers.

  2. Hire a ton of high priced engineers that don't listen to others.

  3. Not listening to geologists that tell us where huge deposits of oil and gas are (Bakken).

  4. Promote leaders to executive positions that only care about themselves but are good at pretending that they care about others (Alan Marcum and Smette).

  5. Ask for every technology under the moon and then wonder why our G&A is so much (hmmmmm).

  6. Think engineers are the only people that could possibly understand what to do and promote them to leadership where they continue to be disconnected (as most engineers are).

  7. Overpay vendors Billions and not negotiate because we're too busy drilling.

  8. Allow an EVP to not hedge our production so we lose billions but allow him to keep his job for another 7 years (Smette).

etc... etc.... etc...

Yin and Yang have already been debunked as a dangerous philosophy for elements, since they explode limited stellar mass into infinite darkness of space if they try to balance...

Light tries to keep the soil from doing anything but growing plants..

Sometimes it feels like everything is backwards. It's not your imagination. It's grace.

Compared to the perfection and beauty of the ecosystem, humans are limited and nasty racist greedy things. We are the ugliness of this world, so the ecosystem records us backwards.

Consider it a gift. That is the only way there can be beautiful humans.

Smette is the EVP of Marketing so yes the buck stops with him.

The worst managed company I ever worked. I quit when the Tower formed.

Hager may have bought Devon three extra years but in the end you will be called BP or Chevron and the Tower will be a government building.

So, you are saying Smette responsible for all hedging or non-hedging decisions?

Wow! Interesting. The only one i'm not sure about is #4. I'm not sure that either one of those two are actually good at pretending to care.

It is no use whining and moaning. ExxonMobil is going to buy Devon soon or later.

OP is a geologist.

We'd be so far under if we were in the Bakken right now. Please go drink bleach to cure your stupidity.

Devon got too top heavy about 7 or 8 years ago and it caused a collapse in the work that needed to be done. I mean when you have a org structure with a manager that has two supervisor under them or a one to one... What is that manager really doing other than challenging egos in meetings all day. That's why nothing could get done

You think it's better to tell the SEC, or to piss and moan about it online like an impotent jerk?

Yes "tell it to the SEC". Look how well that worked with the CEOs of CHK and SD and the "harsh" punishment imposed on both of them. AKM and TLW Basically left the company with millions from their "agreements" and the companies struggling to survive.

If you're alleging wrongful appropriation of company funds, tell it to the SEC. DVN is publicly traded. Comingling of funds is stealing from shareholders.

Ha!!! Leaders at Devon call people whiny that point out these areas of bad leadership when really they're trying to help the company get better. You must be a "leader" here because most people would agree that this has been an issue at Devon for a long time but no one felt secure enough to call it out.

Ivory tower for executives to discuss pool chemicals, lawn care, volvo service, alimony and best strippers in Cleveland!

I got it lets hire whiny people that blame everything on everyone else instead of looking in the mirror and asking how their selves can improve the situation. That will for sure run this company into the ground.
