The management cuts seemed very lite on our floor, making me think they are going to take a major chunk of that 700 out on the lower peeps. I haven't seen or heard a number today but id doubt it was even more than 100. Thoughts?

Read the emails people. They sent out two saying the same thing. If they were able to lay off 700 managers and supervisors (out of what, 3000 or so in tower?), then this company was structured to fail.
I heard management today - scientists tomorrow and support people the next day.
Global warming is the real problem. Obama needs to get everything running on solar so we don't need to fracture the planet to get energy. That is what I learned at SMU last semester.

Always funny that people gripe about IT but expect every software package under the sun and the network to be up 24/7. You have no idea of what it takes to run IT just like IT has very little idea what it takes to be a Geologist or Engineer. It would behoove you to worry about excelling at your job instead of thinking you know what it takes to run another organization.
