Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Energy Editor Looking for Interview Subjects

Hello, I am the energy editor with PennEnergy.com. I am writing an article about how layoffs in the energy industry are affecting lives. I would like to know what your company gave you as far as severance and placement services, how long you have been laid off, if you are still looking in the energy sector for a new job, how the layoff affects your family and wellbeing, etc. If you would like to tell your story, please contact me at jstenner @ pennwell . com.

I think it's important to see how an industry that is so vital to our state's economy is being sucked out from under us. It impacts the housing market, schools, local business and spending...I think it's important that people know there is a larger price to pay for these low gas prices. We love our oilfield people in Oklahoma and should help them get their stories out!

I do not find this post at all tacky - it should NOT be a secret how people are treated in these circumstances or how it affects them and their families.

In fact it should be in employment contracts when you are hired as to how you would be treated if this event should occur. It would help people a lot to know what to expect and allow them to plan ahead if they see it may be going to happen.
