Pray for wisdom from our management. I was going to use the term: LEADERSHIP, but sadly, that has been lacking for many years - since Larry left. We had a benign uncle running the company for the last few years, now his nephew has taken over.
If the layoff is not done correctly, it will destroy our future when things pick up again.
The company continues to reward poor decision making. VP's who make bad business decisions (Kris Goforth is one) are still here. Poor judgement has been rewarded. Mistakes are not documented and discussed, so we can learn from them. Instead, we are doomed to repeat them.
A total lack of forward planning and control also has helped make us a bloated and top heavy organization. Like the fat man on the Monty Python movie - "just one more thin mint". I pity the poor souls who took jobs with us only 2 months ago, only to be let go. Management cannot even admit they made a mistake. Everyone else started tightened their belts long ago.
Anyway - best of luck in the coming two weeks. Help your co-workers get through this. They are your family. Support each other and let's try to do this with dignity and grace.
