Thread regarding Scientific Games Corp. layoffs

More layoffs in a few days.

The place is like an archaic prison awaiting the cell mates and guards to start the 'Dead-Man walking' chant.

One scary thing about new layoffs. Will the severance be as good as it was for the earlier layoff groups? If the upcoming earnings report is as bad as the last one, corporate may not want any more cash to be bled out than necessary for a non-ROI objective such as this. Will they need to borrow more money just to let people go? That's unlikely.

Here we go boys and girls! Strap your seatbelt, put your helmets one. It's about to get bumpy. Look to your left, look to your right. In the next few days, your scenery will change.

No one is 'safe', old dog, new talent, doesn't matter. This is about numbers. They've been told to 'cull the herd'. Say goodbye to your friends and associates, leave with dignity. Have confidence it's not about you personally, it's a numbers thing. Enjoy the rest of your week, but do get back out there, time does not wait for anyone.

I can't say it's been fun, just surreal.

Good luck and best wishes to you all, and God speed.

It's time to get real. Any corporation carrying $8B in debt and posting catastrophic loss after loss on a quarterly basis can't survive very much longer as is. After all it's not the US Postal Service with bail-outs at hand. Sadly, this "consolidation" may spell the end for the individual segments as we know them. WMS was a prime example. Instead of waiting for the axe to fall and expressing others perceived lack of talent, all hands should focus on creating the "next best thing in gaming" and forge a turnaround. Not an easy task in today's market, but possible. As an old dog I've personally I've seen a huge surge in sales with the advent of the touch screen, bill acceptor, printer and so on. I guess we were a little too busy making things happen back in the day and not wasting our time and energy bashing the rest of the team. Oh well, as they say, "it's a different world"...

Reno is probably safe due to their political advantage, but they have no talent there. So I wouldn't bet on safe.

Well, Here in Reno we have had no Mass layoffs since the buy out of Ballsy. So, am willing to bet with an occasional cut here and there, were pretty safe. After all, we carry this company. Why would they mess with Reno?
