Thread regarding Viacom Inc. layoffs

Expect major Viacom job cuts in March, April 2016

It's all downhill from here - we were late on every single major technology trend - think about it, CORD CUTTING is real and will continue to hurt us - go figure out a different strategy Dauman, whatever you are doing is not working and you've been losing money for way too long - why even pay Dauman?

above post is correct, every truly offbeat and creative person I knew there got laid off around 2010-2012, what's left is a sea of yuppie dudes resting their Varvatos boots up on their desks.

So so true. Only hope is a buyout from apple as was rumored a while ago.

i remember hearing once, back in 2013, that the lady who runs digital (can't remember her name) lead a top executive meeting where she white boarded that viacom needs to aggressively target mobile and digital and spend less time on broadcast. i was told that dauman was in the meeting and had no idea digital was eating into the business. i mean, it's too late. the stock and press is finally cracking. nothing lasts forever. no one was minding the store and its crumbling fast. young people don't care about MTV. that sounds harsh, but its 100% true. they're glued to their phones. in fact, they've been glued to their phones for many years. they watch tv, but they watch netflix and hulu. they do not watch viacom programming. in 2016, this seems like the new reality. the other sad part is that viacom laid off extremely creative and bright people over the past few years. that beginning to show as well. the deep rooted politics and jockeying for internal positions is a cancer within the company. too many people take advantage of the system and perks. all the while they lost sight of the master plan. good luck viacom. darker days ahead indeed.
