Devon has been hoarding overhead staff for so long they can't tell an SAP analyst from an oil finder. That will not change soon. If you are busy making pretty powerpoints for HR management now, you will be safe and busy in the future. If you are a reservoir engineer that won't add the reserves that management requires, you are gone. Keep the yes man and fire the skeptic.
That way the John Richels legacy is safe for all time.
