They are disassembling it a piece at a time. Seems they are only interested in keeping Subsea.

FMC Technologies carved its name in the oil industry as a Subsea and Wellhead provider and I suspect their number one priority right now is to preserve that side of the business. There are some giants out there like GE now nipping at their heels and possibly the only way to survive is to sell off some of the surface and merge with another Subsea provider. Maybe the Smith Meter product line is one of the business units that FMC spins off. In the end it might not be a good thing for all.
