Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Do something smart

Instead of the stupid remarks, everyone who is laid off should simply post gender, age when laid off. Ie, M56. If everyone did it you could see if any discrimination by Devon. There are lawsuits possible for discrimination.

They may not know how to run a company, but they're smart enough to hire good lawyers. You can bet that the layoff will be lawsuit proof, from a discrimination standpoint. That doesn't mean they won't be letting all the wrong people go and keeping the suck ups with friends in high places.

True. Once you contact the EEOC, they will contact Devon HR and there goes the severance.

Unfortunately, If the overwhelming majority of loyal employees that are laid off are male, caucasion and over 60, I'd suggest that they're just royally screwed. That's just the way it is, boys.

By law, the employer has to provide the job titles and ages of the employees affected by the layoff to all parties that are let go to prevent lawsuits. Those that are let go have the information and are bound by the severance package agreement to not release any information or they forfeit their severance package.
