Thread regarding Goldcorp Inc. layoffs

100 folks were let go - Red Lake

Production and office staff, about 100, we are not that big and this will hurt us. The community will be affected as it's hard to find jobs right now. We have about 1500 people here, so this is about 7% of the overall employment. Not good, and if prices continue to drop they will cut even more.

Gignac is optimistic, and trying to cheer people up, I don't know - transition counseling, workshops and information packs, whatever, it's not going to help people - sad times.

Gold corp really needs to look at where they are spending money. Like does upper management really need houses on the lake that are paid for by goldcorp, they have managers for their managers, goldcorp needs to get back to the basics if they want to move forward. Stop spending and start asking the real workers where the problems are. It has turned into a dictatorship. With Bill Gascon as the new hitler. Jackass

If the Red Lake Mine kept their costs in line as they did when the price of gold was low you would not see these layoffs. When the price of gold goes up..its spend spend spend and hire people that are not needed to run the operation. Listen to your people, who make it happen
