All these reports that unemployment is way down is not true, the peoples unemployment benefits just ran out and most still can't find job. I know, I'm one of them!! After you reach a certain age you are up the creek without a paddle, no one wants to hire you. I guess they think all of us older people will die on the job!! I'm old but still got a little kick left.

This is why I thought death panels were a good idea! Fellow employees can vote you off the top floor when you hit 55.
7 seconds later you get your severance. It's all good.
EEOC.
I'm over 50 and was let go by Devon recently. Fortunately, got a lot of interviews and have been since hired. Still get emails and phone calls about current job opportunities. I realize my circumstances may be rare, but I certainly understand how the over 50 and even the over 40 crowd feels. Prayers for all.
Unemployment figures are down because many of the older unemployed have given up and quit looking for work. I think after so long, they drop you off the statistics also. If you aren't going through the unemployment agencies, you aren't counted. Whatever means that they use, the unemployment figures are VERY skewed for the benefit of the politicians!
