Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Very Few Looked At Invoices

Devon has been raped and pillaged by contractors over the last few years. It is now obvious the company was paying higher prices for the same services other companies were receiving for much less. Some Devon people were likely complicit in this. I know what I'm talking about. The fact that management let this happen for so long, and on such a large scale, is a disservice to all the folks that truly worked hard and tried to make money for the company. For those that allowed the the company to be violated for a few kick-backs, I hope you get what you deserve.

Hopefully the remaining Devon employees after the upcoming layoffs will come to realize that SAP-PM is a valuable tool that will ensure long term equipment reliability and maintenance. In most cases It doesn't make sense to run a piece of equipment until it fails, this type of operating practice will only hurt your bottom line (increase LOE and reduce production). It also makes sense to purchase equipment/parts that will give you the best service or hire vendors that give you the best service at a competitive price. SAP has the ability to give you this data if used properly and to it's fullest potential, along with the ability to integrate with the other departments within your organization. During these times everyone should embrace these processes. I feel for you guys and gals and know what you are going through right now. I am not an employee of Devon but have worked in the Oil and Gas Industry for 40 years (field guy) and have seen a number of these downturns throughout my career. In all cases the industry turned around and we were back to drilling again and as always drilled ourselves out of business again. Keep your chin up and hang in there.

SAP is just the latest excuse. This has always been a major issue. Not just at Devon but throughout the industry.

Another post where Devon tanking has nothing to do with oil dropping to $30. Devon wasn't raped by contractors, it gladly spread its legs and smiled.

Has anyone ever said anything good about SAP. All I ever hear is it cost Millions and pisses everyone off. Was it something someone said we had to have?

We've been fighting this in our BU for 8 months. There were no kickbacks unfortunately) - biggest cause of trouble was complexity of the SAP invoice and submission system. I've used SAP at 5 dif companies across industries- literally means Stop All Progress...

I saw a little shady crap too... It would be a service company of the bother of a wife's cousin that had a silent partner
