Can you expand on the "MA group"?
I am a veteran in this industry and was hired/fired recently at Teradata. All new thoughts where completely shot down immediately. At the MA group, I wanted to change the implementation method with ideas that have worked elsewhere but the found resistance which culminated with my dismissal. TD still have potential and can be salvaged but the old thinking will not cut it.
Darryl was the Chief Strategy Officer and his retirement was announced well. His departure opens the role for new blood to revitalize the company direction.
20-40yrs people are the brains behind Teradata technology. If you let them go Teradata technology will be in a sink hole as newbie has no clue about the system and how it works neither they have the aptitude to understand such complex system. Long term folks are the ones who work as fire fighters when needed and in crisis.
I hear there have been none since last year in San Diego,ca. They really need to clean house and stop keeping the old people. We are talking 20-40years at the co. They are set in their old ways. TD needs fresh ideas to spur growth. When they lay off they ax the newer folks. It's messed up. Many long term folks only work a few hours a day!!
I felt a disturbance in the force.
More than that. I saw an email from one person that said, 'since 2/3 is my last day with teradata....' granted this could just be someone leaving. Feels like something happened this week.
If you meant Darryl McDonald then yes, there was indeed one lay-off (retirement) today.
