The Oil Bust 2016 ! The next Disaster Movie

It is happening to every oil company. Devon will be laying off 53% of its workforce in Oklahoma City. I'm not sure how many people that will translate to, but the number i heard was 2300. They have to make a transition plan of some kind. Look for the lay offs to start 2/15 after month end close and to continue for three days. It's coming guys and it is not going to be fun. This is the date. Many will not believe it, but this IS THE DATE. Mark your calendars. You have two weeks to get things in order. Pack up your belongs and take them home. Enjoy your last two weeks. Who will get it?; Well that is a different question. IT, Marketing, Data Management, Land and Accounting will get very, very hard. If you're not a team player or have a crappy personality, this will be Devon's opportunity to part ways with you. You know who you are. You made your bed and now you will have to lie in it.

it won't work, disaster movies usually have a happy ending.

the only one getting a happy ending in the downtown devon dildo is Hager.

don't worry, god loves you but he loves big company senior management more.

Reaper,

What area are your wells in? My area is a well oiled machine, so to speak. When we have any customer bring up issues (big or small) we address them imidiatly, work it out until RO's are pleased or at least understand everything Bout their payment/bill. I am sorry you don't have that same experience, and I can probably guess the area your wells are in, but that is not representative of the company as a whole.

i'm a working interest partner in many of Devon's operated wells. We have operations with every major in the business. Devon has replaced CHK as the worst operator. over charges, double bills, rediculous charges, tremendous overhead charges it is a monthly fight. 100 bopd wells losing money consistently. the elite will not answer phone calls, emails, etc. leaving us in a position of likely suing to remove Devon as operator.

Devon i'm sure has some very good people. our experience over several years is most are arrogant and don't give a crap.

reap what u sow.

If they do make that movie, they should get Nicolas Cage to star. Only his acting could do justice to this level of disaster, while still paying homage to the annoying douchiness of your run-of-the-mill oil field employee. I think i smell a direct to video release!

Total crap. Management has already told us the layoff will happen over the course of 1 day. We are expecting in the range of 25%. Managers have ranked all people under them and listed their primary and secondary responsibilities. The vp levels in every area are tasked with choosing every person that gets laid off or every person that stays to cover the jobs deemed critical. So for each VP you have has hundreds of people that have to be selected for termination. This is why it is taking so long. They know this is killing moral and are trying to hurry to finish the role. This is not something they are taking lightly and in some cases they are terminating their own jobs. It's all about reducing G&A to a point that the company can survive over the next couple of years. Termed employees are welcome to return if and when the market improves. The management at Devon is not the heartless monsters some here would like to portray them to be, but the company must take the needed steps to survive. Be thankful if you are one of the ones still standing when the smoke clears and pray for those friends that have been let go.
