I left last year on my own an could not be happier. Mid level and upper management in VM are ridiculously focused on empire building and not about making a better company. The grass is much greener! Good luck and sympathy for anyone still wasting their career with these clowns.
This is so true. This happened to me as well, but I've moved on to better things and am much happier. This company drained the life out of me. No regrets what so ever!

It is all in who you know. If you are in the right circle, you will be saved from layoffs. But don't trust anyone right now. Just when you think you are safe, they will tell you your doing a great job and the next day they walk you out.
Yep it's true. I transferred to another branch in 2014. The branch closed in 2015 and all got laid off except for a few "golden ones" who goes camping and hangs out with the manager. They were transferred to another branch but still live in the state where the other branch closed and most all that worked at the branch these kiss asses were transferred to have been laid off and these "golden ones" still have jobs. It infuriates me to no end. This was the branch I transferred from and was told I would have my old job back there, I spent almost $6,000 from what was left over from my severance pay moving back just to find out that position was filled by someone who was on the chopping block just to save them. Oh well, what are you going to do? I'm keeping my head high, consider it a blessing and searching outside of the oilfield for other work. Kudos to them. It is a dirty, evil, backstabbing industry. Karma is a bit@h. Thank you for letting me vent. I feel better now lol. Good luck to all of you!
