After listening to the all hands

Only conclusion is the entire upper management team needs to go.

One of the earlier posts said it the best..."...gives new meaning to #EPICFAIL". No kidding.

Execs didn't listen to the customer/market-focused people at VMware....the ones who were begging for a REAL public cloud strategy. A strategy that would have leveraged our strengths in private cloud and provide a seamless experience for customers to provision and monitor apps in the hybrid cloud. Instead, they denied it. "Amazon" was the forbidden word. And we poo-poo'd them, "customers won't put their apps in the public cloud!"

Many of us are raging...they pissed away what used to be a great company. It's so incredibly sad.

And now it's Federation musical chairs...rich, do-nothing bastards getting richer. At least we get free nuts...

this has happened in the past..

it was around 2008-09 shares tanked to their lowest i guess,

Paul M resurrected the company and took it from A to B, , he was diversifying into wider datacenter arease than core strengths, acquisitions like zimbra slide rocket went off tangent..

Pat G came along.. complete shake up, focused on SDDC, Hybrid cloud..EUC, this brought the company a long way break the 6 billion revenue barrier last year

In due course centres have been closed down, zimbra..sliderocket sold off

there were mergers, acquisitions..very powerful and strategic ones like Airwatch and Nicira..real magic

Now its time to step up the game.. from 6 billion to 10 billion and more..

Perhaps there will be a shake up at the top or 3 powerful minds working together Dell, Tucci, Gelsinger..

Ofcourse at a micro level ppl will be let go..more heads will be added but in the right places..all in all to align with the company vision and mission. you would do the same thing...unless you are a charitable organization..

Its a phase is evolution ..

One thing for sure is - VMware will rise again.. 2017 Q1 i predict...hang in there investors, employees and customers..

That was tough. Rah Rah, great things are in store. I'm glad they can recycle the same speech after each round of layoffs, I'm sure there's a savings there.

Apparently there is officially no more "do what it takes." The new mantra per mgmt is "do your job and only your job"

Totally agree with you. All are BS at all. I will move on because VMware I liked to work for doesn't exist anymore.
