US Federal WARN laws require companies file notices before significant layoffs. VMware posted two updates on 2016-01-26 for 38 Broomfield and 48 Colorado Springs positions. Per a conversation with BizWest and an unnamed VMware spokesperson, the layoffs are planned for March.

If you're in Broomfield, maybe this should be brought up in next weeks all hands!
They really should change the WARN period to 6 months or more.
That isn't for new new ones, its for the ones that just happened. VMware likes to do these things without warning so the two months 'on the payroll' you are hearing about are truly just the required sixty days WARN notice.
You will never see a VMware layoff coming, but you can at least get a bodycount if you find the WARN notices.
