Vmware employees need to be prepared for more rounds of layoffs. proactively look for jobs and transition from vmware.

Worked with Dell in early 2000's, they moved entire work force from Ireland to india, expect the same scenario.
There are always major layoffs after deal closes, it's guaranteed. It's actually priced into the deal. It's called synergy.
They've done a LOT of work over many months in coming to these decisions - work that I doubt will be repeated any time soon, acquisition or no acquisition...
they are in mood to wind up. will be more in future. with stock going down, guessing will be around 1000 by march/april and 3000 with dell acquisition.

That the next round will be quieter. A few dozen here, a few dozen there. Mgmt knows you can't layoff 800 quietly so they bit the bullet this time.
