I think it depends on what level you are. If you're below director I think you're primarily prevented from soliciting customers or employees that you worked with at EMC but could potentially work for a competitor. If you're director or above you cannot work for any competitor. IANAL but that's how I interpret my non-compete.
Does anyone know what are the terms of the non compete?
The time is now to determine if you will stay at Emc/Dell or leave for "greener" pastures.
