The top execs at VMW have been in place WAY too long, and sadly lack recent commercial experience. Too engineering-oriented, or still a start-up mindset. Execs who are measured on saving pennies on the dollar need to understand that no company "saved" its way to significant growth. Needs a big top-down shake-up. New vision, new product investment. Get past the tired cloud management messaging - replace BU leads who are like a stuck record (or CD). Was once a cool company, a desirable company to work for. Sadly, this is coming crashing down.

WMWare has competed with Amazon and Microsoft for some time and has chosen to out-source some of its development to other countries, creating layoffs.
