VMWare Severance - January 2016

Many have asked, here it goes: Axed today but will stay an employee until 4/1... At that point they will give me two month payment as severance and I will get 5 more weeks for 5 years I spent here. I've got a grant of 2000 USD to cover Cobra payments for me and family. I will be eligible for bonus (we'll know more after they release financial results in a few weeks)... Overall, pretty solid but nothing spectacular like some other tech companies do (e.g. 1 year of pay, 1 year of medical, vesting, etc.)... My unvested RSU stock will be returned to VMware.

lol, they switched to "unlimited" vacation, which means no vacation payouts ever.

So the package is that you'll get your regular salary until 4/1 and additional 2 months + $2000 + a week for every year?

or just 2 months + $2000 + a week for every year

Laid off today, too. Sales in Austin got a dramatic cut. All professional services were let go as well.

He used "Technical Incident Eng" as his handle, so I guess that's the group

That is the standard for VMware. I know someone who was laid off last year. That person got the exactly the same package.
