Good Managers will do what they can to protect their teams. Our group found out we were losing headcount in two regions over a month ago as part of wider reductions, and the manager worked to get his folks transferred to other roles. Of course, this does nothing for whole teams that were outsourced or office closings, but the reductions went across the entire company.
