Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Laid off in Bangalore

I was the ONLY one in my group doing 2 jobs, busting my butt off. Many complements I received. My boss laid me off and no one else.

All other members in my team went back in time with my boss and socialized with him. My only mistake at Shell was working too hard and not socializing with managers. That's what my boss said 'between the lines'. Shell is a joke of a company. Worst employer I've have in my entire long career!

I share your sentiments. Shell gave many of us the shaft, so screw Shell. I hope the ones responsible for me getting laid off in 2015, receive their screwing in 2016. They know they are. Karma is a bitch. Remember me when you are handed your termination notice.

No different than working at Chevron. Social skills trump technical skills. Working hard and getting things done only serves to threaten your supervisor's job. During good times, you are sought out for your skills and may even get a fair salary raise every year. But during times of layoffs, you are the one that gets tossed out. The best thing is to balance your social skills with your dedication to work, even though you don't especially like to cut-up with the work group.
