Why does the DoE kerp this fraud open? Why do people still enroll in this bad institution? Why does Hawn keep crooks from CCI on his payroll?

CK - I don't know that the DoE is currently as much "business friendly" as it is "high powered CYA". DoE allowed CCI and others to run roughshod over students and taxpayers for years and essentially turned a blind eye. THAT was "business friendly" (although unethical....). When DoE delayed cash flow to CCI in June 2014 and inadvertently nearly caused CCI to close, DoE realized its own predicament. CCI failing would have brought a smile to the faces of many, but would be a financial and political disaster for DoE in terms of loan forgiveness and taxpayer liability. By "allowing" (begging/strong-arming) ECMC to purchase CCI, DoE washed its hands of those creepy predators at CCI ( well, mostly) and had a way to systematically and gradually ramp the business down, dramatically reducing loan forgiveness liability. Big win for DoE. Big win for taxpayers. Students ands employees? Not so much.......
Another side to look at is the Department of Education. Ted Mitchell, the undersecretary of higher education, is a shill of the for-profit colleges. DoED is likely to be even more "business friendly" during the next Presidential administration.

DoE wants Zenith to wind down gradually via teach-outs. This preserves most student's requirement to pay back loans (ECMC core business) ands relieves the DoE (and taxpayers) from the massive loan forgiveness that would exists if the schools closed suddenly. Quality, ethical, useful education? Not the primary concern here.....

A cynical view is that many student who enroll currently are completely oblivious to the issues and history associated with Zenith and have no ability or desire to do even the most basic research. Another view is that they are fully aware and don't care because they are only here for the stipend.

Because no one else will work here. Not a shot at those of you still there, but what capable, competent outsider would sign on at ZEG?
