There is no such thing. Only employees are entitled to severance.

Of course none. When you work as a contractor, you work as an owner of your own company, lay your own taxes, tender your own benefits, and get paid way more as no OM&A costs are incurred by the company.
Contractor versus FTE has its own pros and cons :) I enjoyed both in my career today the but I prefer being a core employee where leadership roles can be gained and real influence can be had.... Even at a lesser pay.
