Intel Hires Ex-Qualcomm Executive

(taken from the web)

At Intel, Renduchintala will be the president of the Client and Internet of Things (IoT) Businesses and Systems Architecture Group, a newly created unit that combines a lot of units: Platform Engineering, Client Computing, IoT, Software and Services, and Design & Technology Solutions groups.

It's worth noting the Client Computing Group, which includes both the PC and mobile chips, and is Intel's largest revenue generator, is also looped under this group.

Snippet from Qualcomm's site: he is responsible for the oversight of all activities related to Qualcomm’s semiconductor business within the mobile and computing segment.

I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this hire/change at Intel. :)

Maybe Qualcomm will take Renee James, this guy will eat BK, and Andy will get what he really wanted 2 years ago.

Anytime Intel hires an external VP, they end up failing and leaving the company within 1-2 years.. the list is very long of failed external executives, btw...

The 5 underling VPs that report to Murthy will not lose any power or influence on the CEO..... they are all Intel "blue bloods"..

I challenge anyone to list all the external VP's Intel has hired and their eventual departure from Intel.. Not one has been able to become successful.

As a qcom employee who regularly interfaced with this POS. Good luck to you. He made horrible decisions, even though advised no too, then denied it. When presented with evidence that he made those decisions he started yelling and dropping f-bombs all over the place. This guy will ruin you. The only way he got to the top at qcom was his extensive h-1b program which is why qcom is struggling right now. DO NOT TRUST THIS GUY!!

11 year QUALCOMM employee here.

Actually a good hire if he can keep his potty mouth shut. Actually very technical for such a senior executive and absorbs a whole range of knowledge spheres well. Has well established relationships with C level execs from Apple, Samsung, Huawei etc. Is driven to the extreme.

However puts you down ruthlessly, uses very foul language openly, yells profanities at the top of his voices towards senior directors and even VP's.

Well, I don't know if he was fired or not... my thought was he interviewed and accepted the job and told Qualcomm and they didn't want him staying on after that point. Who knows. Only he, HR and his mgr. But it's still mind-boggling to me how large of a group he's stepping into and being an outsider. Dunno. This might be like the Ken Berryman thing (another post on this site brought up he was hired in February.... and gone by August).

Hmmm, so we are giving such a powerful position to a guy that just got fired by a failing company?

He's not picking up "an organization", @205164.... he's picking up 5 orgs in a newly created division. Several of them are very large but added together.... wow. Mindboggling to me just how large 'the new guy's' org will be.

Per Forbes article: Intel said on Friday that Renduchintala would become president of the newly created “Client and Internet of Things (IoT) Businesses and Systems Architecture Group.” Intel said this new position will oversee a number of Intel organizations: Platform Engineering Group; Client Computing Group; Internet of Things Group; Software Design Tools & Technology Group. Renduchintala will report directly to Intel CEO Brian Krzanich.

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution

Take a bow for the new revolution

Smile and grin at the change all around

Pick up my guitar and play

Just like yesterday

Then I'll get on my knees and pray

We don't get fooled again

sounds like the semiannual high level reorg to cover up the failed attempt to open a new market by playing hide the sausage with desktop revenue. I guess Davis can join Bell on the IC track.
