Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

Devon has a strong balance sheet and great assets

To this point they have held on to people, so I think they will give it until the end of the year before really putting any large scale layoff in place. I personally think if they had a Voluntary Separation Plan for people nearing retirement age that many would take it. The experience will be lost, but there will be people around that can keep things going. As in all layoffs I would hope the low performers and malcontent would be taken care of first in a layoff process. There seems to be a lot of people that want to go, so maybe a little push out the door would help.

Bakken is challenged but let's see.... Cline shale, a1 carbonate, Mississippi lime, NW Cana, Utica in that really shitty area of Ohio.... That was the big 5 all bust. Scoop springer and woodford production approaching 75,000 boepd. That's 100% organic growth

They have been saying great assets and balance sheet since at least 2005. Good balance sheet and ok assets at best. Don't kid yourself we are no continental resources. Now the Scoop, Bakken and Core Stack far exceed what Devon owns

I agree there are a lot of people that would go with some incentive, but would Devon want to pony up? Could be expensive to pay people lose to a year salary and not get the work.
