Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

The Day After Pill

It's quite in the tower today. Survivor's guilt is heavy but we also are bracing ourselves for Round 4 after 4Q earnings. Thoughts of joining Houston's saturated unemployment market makes it impossible to enjoy the holidays! Prayers to those and their families who have been impacted; take this time to enjoy your family and pursue other career opportunities.

Good to see the positive attitudes. There is life after Marathon, and it is good. I agree, enjoy the holidays and get to know your family again. Seek a good church and you will find peace and comfort knowing you are in a good place. Many you meet have gone through this and they are moving on. God bless.

Yes, one of my friends was included in the 1st round of layoffs...9 months later they are much happier. It is not worth the stress, enjoy your family and don't be afraid to pursue other opportunities until you land that dream job. Take some time off for the holidays and work as a substitute teacher in your child's school district. Most importantly, ENJOY YOU LIFE ... THERE IS LIFE after MARATHON.

My prayers are with you 203060. I got let go in Feb and getting let go was the worst/best thing that ever happened to me and my family. It was such a horrible feeling - especially seeing the people they kept. I am much metter off now and with a company that doesn't treat its employees like crap. Life gets better. A word of advice though, sell what ever shares of MRO you have left becuase they will never rise in price again.

Have faith and all will be good. This is only a moment of change and in a short time you will look back and realize all the worry stress was not worth the effort. I know from experience. Your family will understand the changes and will support you in your future. Slow down and take a deep breath, face each new day as a blessing.
