Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The answer is not in the question. In order to understand the question you first have to understand some history and do some basic math. The people you deem worthless, those say over the age of 50 today have actually been employed by Intel some time - most of them for 2-3 decades. So they started out in the 80s as bright, shiny, egotistical RCGs, just like you. What did they accomplish in their youth? You are feeling the outcome of it today. So, no the answer is not in the question. Intel used to be a very young company, like Facebook is today (this is the history part), and like Microsoft and other young tech companies in the 1970s and 80s the average age of employees was in the 20s. Microsoft built a portfolio of software businesses that went beyond the operating system. Intel got stuck on just the CPU. Why did Microsoft succeed at new businesses where Intel failed? You're out of school now and this is not a simple Harvard Business case you need to write an essay on - your surface thinking will not serve you well in the real world RCG.

To your question "But tell me, in the past 47 years of Intel history can you site 1 new business that was successful?", the answer is in your question itself. Once oldies are in, there is no question of them leaving until the company kicks them out. This is the primary reason why there has not been any innovation at intel for long. Now, get out and let the RCGs start working on developing the next big thing - intel will come up with innovative products every year once this happens.. Intel wasted the last 47 years by keeping the deadwood, which it doesn't need any more.

I'm still waiting for your stated plans for: corporate bureaucracy, global warming, cancer, and kittens. But tell me, in the past 47 years of Intel history can you site 1 new business that was successful? (and for bonus points, an "innovation platform" from "RCGs"). I can think of....0, but maybe that's just me and my old mind :)

@201311 - For you, the potholes are a threat and you might even stop driving, We, the youth look at it as an opportunity to test our driving skills and are willing to take the challenge. Oldies are still stuck in the cobweb of pessimism, which intel wants to and is getting rid of. For you guys, the best days have already passed and you keep lamenting "those were the days". For us, our best days are yet to come and part of our effort in achieving our ambition is by getting rid of the deadwood. So, pack up your belongings. You all will be kicked out by 31 Dec and we will have a new innovation platform by 1 Jan 2016

I can see you're pretty new to it so let me give you a tip on this troll business. First of all, you're channeling your inner jr. high student, which is good - lots of name calling, keep it up. But my tip is this. When you post there is a time stamp on the post. So everyone can see for instance that this one and the one below it is one person. Intel is not only under performing but is still full of the same egomania (which was deserved as they dominated the 80s and 90s). Intel is the Titanic, and it's the same "Titanic is unsinkable" attitude. Just look at the Intel ads that spend over 1/2 of time talking about how brilliant Intel is and less than 1/2 of the time talking about anything relevant to consumers. BK success in phones = Otellini success in phones. Every new business at Intel fails. The IA/Windows linked library of software on the PC is becoming less relevant with each day with phones, tablets and cloud computing tied to no library of software (except maybe non-IA: Apple/Android). Being fired from Intel is a blessing in disguise - but I don't think the disguise will last long. The iceberg named ARM is bigger than it appears.
