Anytime there is an economic downturn or a loss of a big contract or any real excuse, you can expect layoffs at TIBCO. It is done every few years. Vivek uses this as a mechanism to trim off the dead wood that accumulates over time. It has been going on since the early 1990's. It is healthy. When those people's departure is announced, everyone else finds themselves nodding their heads in understanding. Trust me, a compnay of TIBCO's size has at least 30 useless employees taking up space and sucking up a salary that they will be far better off without.
