Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

The likelihood of layoffs in Irvine or the US in general is high.

From what I gather from folks around here, there one in three might face the axe. Avago and its high margin business strategy pushes most of the work to low cost countries like India and they are moving their headquarters from US to Singapore precisely for this reason. Better safe than sorry I would say.

New real estate and building on it shouldn't give too much confidence in retaining Irvine employees. There is this thing called sub-leasing and they can get a huge premium in the Great Parks area of Irvine. Time will tell on day two after the deal closes.
