What day are they doing involuntary layoffs?

In case of a stalemate, do the wishes of the VSP Selectee overrule? Just being sarcastic. I'm sure he/she is told what to do. This was the case even in the first round. If you don't play the game, you don't get the package! Some were asked to stay around a few days, a couple of weeks, a few months before their ticket was punched.
The departure date of a VSP selectee varies and is dependent upon agreement between HR, VP and the VSP selectee. There is a discussion, and then concurrence.
More layoffs in Q1? I do not approve.
If you do not get laid off next week you will get booted in 1Q16. Low oil prices will be here for some time and middle-east producers are not giving any slack in production. With Iran coming online soon there will be no room to store all the inventory. Prices will drop, but this will not spur demand. Even China is running out of room to store oil. Marathon will continue to sell, reorganize, lay off, and repeat the process until nothing is left. The ones released in February were the fortunate ones.
Monday will be interesting!
Can't layoff if I'm using my precious flex day!
Any departments get started today?
The departure date of an employee who is accepted as a VSP varies and is the decision of management and HR.
Volunteers can stay to the end of November.
How long are they letting the voluntary people stay?
Acceptances for voluntary packages were being made via phone today. My manager tells me that he has been told all layoffs will be completed "early next week" which he thinks means Tuesday. No sleep for me this weekend!
Didn't you know that MRO is hiring? All you have to do is move to India and renounce your US citizenship. They will even get the contracting company to move you back to the states on an H1B. You'll be owned and can't change jobs. $40k a year for a highly skilled position is great pay afterall. Right?
So HR is telling folks when their super secret purge will take place?
The HR person that supports our group said the 17th
I figure it will happen swiftly as well but how much in Houston and how much in the assets?
This is going to go down quick as they now have the list of volunteers. Tomorrow for the involuntary notifications, a breather over the weekend, then notification of the acceptance of voluntary separations on Monday.
Pretty sure it all starts tomorrow with the groups that have access to the most critical information -- IT, HR, HES&S...
we only know of a couple people who were even eligible for the voluntary in our very young asset...
What percentage of the involuntary separations will be in Houston?
They are compiling the list tomorrow and Friday and the layoffs start on Monday.
Do we know how many employees voluntarily retired?
@198094: No, you're not alone. MRO is a joke.
Am I the only one desperately hoping for a severance package? Planning on leaving the company one way or another at this point...
It's sad to see some people exit in this manner, instead of a nice retirement send off. Who wants to remember their career ending like this?
How much tower and how much asset level?
Should be next week. I think they said the 16th is when they'll have the voluntary list done, and meeting for the new groups start the 18th I believe. I would imagine Monday -Wednesday will be the days.
Involuntary is going on already. One VP in drilling and a fairly high level employee in Accounting were let go the Thursday of the announcement.
They said voluntary sign up ends tomorrow at noon. Think involuntary starts any time after that.
