Just received the news….but this time they’re asking for “voluntary separations”… Cut should be approximately 200 US employees by end of Nov.

I was lucky to get cut in 2000 when they did the onshore consolidation. I went else where and was taught what the real oilfield was and how real production company runs their business. Don't get me wrong MOC put food on the table for 15+ years. It was a relief to get away from favoritism, the buddy system, Penn State Management, HES over the top and multitudes of management layers; the worst was taking better care of the summer interns than the long term permanent employees. The grass is truly greener on the other side based on my experiences at other organizations. I have moved on to each new venues to learn new things and how to be effective efficiently. My time in the oil patch is coming to a close in the next year or so. MOC treated me fairly and decently upon my release. Don't worry be happy.

Dear Exxon hm Enron hmm marathon family,
Please don't be discouraged by recent organizational changes. We have gotten rid of many bad apples and are one step closer to becoming the premier oil a.d gas company.
Truly yours,

Bye 193684!! Don't let the door hit you on the way out
Time to abandon ship! This thing is sinking faster than the Titanic.
Can someone post this email inviting brave volunteers? Thank you.
Anyone seen th email yet? If so, what does it say?
With Anonymous193283, I want to see some manager's heads roll. Still no upper or mid-level management cut other than the exploration managers in the first round. When you've reduced your technical force by 30-40% (between layoffs, retirements, and people jumping off this sinking ship), why do we still have 5-6 layers of management for the average technical person. It's completely ridiculous. If you want to be a lean shale company, then there is 2-3 layers of management that needs removing.
Don't believe what you read on the corporate site. Your name has already been chosen. There will be layoffs for the working class and perks for the incoming management. This will continue to happen until someone buys the shale plays. All this money will be spent overseas where overhead cost are very cheap. Only makes sense.
The volunteers must 55 years old and have 10 years in the company. The link is in the announcement.
So if you got the email and you don't leave do they axe you?
They won't have to pay unemployment if the employee volunteers.
They should have done this from Round 1..
Amen brother!
We cut exploration and people...but not Corporate Jet service for Board members? What is the priority here? Fly them first class and how much would that save? What a joke, our priorities seem to be around serving those at the top.
Now, now, now.....don't ruin the upcoming fun festivities planned for Oklahoma's MRO Office Celebration coming up next week!
So will another VP pull into the parking garage with a new Porsche this week? Do we really need so many VP's/RVP's/Managers? How many employees could be saved per VP?
170 sent emails to volunteer to leave. They will be voluntold and escorted out later. In other cost saving news is they just added a new board member. He got some mighty fine stock grants and options before doing one hard day's work. Gotta find room in the budget (reducing headcount) to finance his VIP treatment.
