Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

I was WFR ed and although I'm ok with mgmt making these types of decisions it was how it was done. My leadership claimed I didn't perform at two accounts...the problem was I never had those accounts. They lied about my performance and I could prove it, but nobody cared, HR, Leadership, Meg W, etc... sad....a long way from the Bill and Dave days.

I saw that all the time when I was at HP. The loud ones, who were full of hot air and had less abilities got all the attention and were ranked better than the folks that stayed quiet and did their jobs. It was the good managers at HP that saw through that bullshit. Unfortunately my 30 years there saw a management spread of 30% good, 40 % mediocre, and 30 percent useless, so the prima donnas usually did well.

Sounds like you didn't make friends at high places. Last year, woman next to me was working and enjoying her time at HP. Got positive reviews from people he worked with abroad. Problem is, she's a bit quiet and was not part of the office clique and her manager needed to cut someone from the team for WFR. Her records showed that she was a competent worker but after her manager casually consulted with her office colleagues who gave out a negative response claiming she was incapable of doing her work and that she was useless she got WFR'd the following month due to incompetence. Nothing else mattered. Her manager placed her job in the hands of his friends and whether they wanted to work with her in the office.

Just saying...

Did you consult a lawyer about this? Wrongful dismissal?
