Thread regarding Sprint layoffs

Embarq Employees can tell you many stories about layoffs

If you are about to be let go try to not stress much about it as there is very little you can control about it. I can tell you this from my own experience, the executives will have a plan and it'll suck. You cannot change anything there, Sprint has already published savings goals (I think it's over 2 billion) and they have to execute this. It's done top down, so each group will be given a number and managers will go and execute it. It'll get ugly, some wrong people will be retained, some good folks will be let go, older folks will suffer more than younger (they are paid more and Spring is not the only company with this issue). Things will drag out, that always happens, and your morale will tank. BUT... there is life after Sprint, you'll be surprised how many opportunities will open up, if your skills are up-to-date and if you are willing to work hard I am sure you'll end up in a better position regardless of the pain that layoffs will inflict. I wish you all the best and God Bless.

I used to work for Embarq too - good times - things went down the drain in 2005
