Lockheed executives must be living in a dream world if they thought that they stood any chance of winning the LRSB Contract. The initial $200B win of F-35 is now costing the DoD well over $500B and many years behind schedule, and the performance of F-35 contract matched several other major defense contracts that LMC has executed in the past years such as, the Presidential Helicopter, NASA Orion, and the Navy LCS contracts etc., that all had serious cost over-runs and major schedule/performance problems. Hence, the loss of LRSB was fully expected by most inside and outside of LMC. Let's see if Northrop Grumman can stay within the budget, schedule and performance guidelines of the LRSB contract, or will that turn into another major headache for the DoD.

After Lockheed's low performance and huge cost escalation on the F-35 Program, losing LRSB contract was quite expected. Living in a bubble did not change the outcome of the LRSB award.
