What do you guys think - are they going to be big redundancies (e.g., back office, finance, marketing, HR) between Pfizer and Allergan if twocompanies merge. Pfizer has been brutal when it comes to mergers as they were eliminating redundancies pretty aggressively, not sure how things would pan out on Allergan side though.

A very good career with Wyeth until Pfizer came calling and then they tried to fix what wasn't broken. 22 years gone but much happier to no longer be part of a cold, cruel machine.
Agreed, also permanent part time employees with full benefits cost a lot of money and doesn't make any sense to have.
It makes sense that finance, HR, marketing and back office should go. I take back office to mean support personnel that carry out functions like accounting, record maintenance, document change management, regulatory compliance and quality system. Why would a company need more than one set of these. It gets expensive.
Hey, where are people going for pharma gossip now that the Biofind Rumor Mill bit the dust? FiercePharma is good and all, but I miss the Clown Shoes guy.
Please don't say Cafe Pharma.
Of course, nobody knows. However, any time there is a merger, redundant functions have to be streamlined. Re: the culture of the company, I was laid off last year after 27 years in R people became afraid and defensive about their work. The management became oppressive, and though I was shocked when I got the axe, I was sort of relieved that I didn't have to go to work every day hating the place I was working.
Please post if you have any information about merger/layoffs
