Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Rumor floating around Parkwood

The latest rumor is GE has made and offer, currently on Willisms desk and in front of the board. It's about the only player that is big enough and has the cash to acquire without getting rid of huge segments. Intelligent thought please.

I'd like to add something here too. In-the-know, while you are looking up the word, facts, and learning its meaning, you should also look up the word, belittle and learn its meaning. May I suggest taking a course in reading comprehension too. On another note, a word of advice for ya. Please do not claim to be one of our managers. You make NOV management look much worse than we are by posting your vacuous comments on this public forum. If you are employee who works for one of our competitors pretending to be one of ours then you are mentally ill. I'd fire you in a new york minute!!!

Lol figures ...Hello NOV wannabe manager "in-the-know." Just because you spread hearsay doesn't mean it is facts. You should look up the word "facts" so you can understand it's real meaning. If what you say is "facts" and claim it as "facts" then shows us your FACTS otherwise you need to get back to work instead of spreading your false information aka "facts." And please stop accusing people of killing employee morale. If those are your assumptions then you are a very troubled soul who needs help.

Hello GE employee or ex-NOV employee!! :) If your mission on here with lies and false rumor is to belittle NOV or kill employee morale, sorry, you failed. I simply stated facts that I KNOW. It's either GE's so called desire to buy NOV is sitting with Clay Willams and you only and not passed down to management. This would be my last response on here. The rumor is false. No need to argue. Bye.

GE definitely can afford NOV. This has been in the works for quite some time. "In-the-know" you need to get a new source for your info or get on the same page. Your source is either outdated or just delusional & making up stuff. Where have you been? There have been massive layoffs & closures within NOV they just make sure they make those cuts consistently & right at the borderline. Hush hush is how they do it. If they make any noise about it that'll make NOV look bad. Stockholders don't like hearing that kind of news. Makes em scared. NOV knows that.

It is naive to think that GE can't afford NOV, have you ever seen their financials. O&G is just a very small portion of that pie. Is Halliburton can afford Baker there is no doubt GE can afford NOV

In-the-know: Or it is a likely announcement made by corporate officials to drive up the stock price and leverage a little more out of potential buyers.

Just because you are in "management" does not distinguish you as in the know. Until a merger goes through, it is business as usual. These strategic acquisitions could be made at the behest ofa potential buyer. Operations just don't cease because the company might go by a different name.

Ridiculous rumor. GE cannot afford NOV. Not at the moment. I'm in management and I tell you that NOV is on the lookout for M&A with smaller competitors. There are several possible offers on the horizon for NOV. Let's assume this rumor is true. Before NOV gets "that bad", there would have been more layoffs en masse, pay cuts, etc.

GE put a halt to the repurchase of company stock? That would free up some cash. This is not good for NOV either way, sad.
