Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

It's not easy for some of us

Many of us are older and cannot easily find another job. No one wants an experienced resource, everyone wants cheap resources. It is sad that this is how business is these days. Capitalism at its worst. Many of us have given and sacrificed much for this company. Many long hours, many weekends, sacrificing our families and personal lives. That used to mean something to a company and it was rewarded. Now, it is just stupid for anyone to do that for a company. So for those folks saying stop your whining and get to work. How about we have been doing that for many many years, so give us a freaking break!!! You are probably some big exec in HR anyway.

Seems as they.might be targeting workers over 50 with many years of service.

Though HP is a US based company there are many in other countries who are affected by the layoffs.

Something I've never understood is why employees give their all to a company, especially in the US, where you can be fired without any real formality. The employees appear to have very minimal rights.

It's not a cake walk elsewhere and it is harder for employees of a 'certain' age to find work but I believe retraining and even self-employment may be a good avenue to follow.

Good luck.
